We seem to edit our memories of pain, which often differ from the pain we actually experienced. In experiments, and after medical procedures, people overlook a pain’s ________. Although the extended milder discomfort added to their net pain experience, patients who received this taper-down treatment later recalled the exam as less painful than did those whose pain ended suddenly.

⑤frequency혹시 평가원 홈페이지를 들어가보신 적 있으십니까? 거기에는 고등학교 수준에 맞는 영어지문을 다루기 위해서 1지문 1주제를 채택하여 수능에 냅니다. 우리가 일상생활에서 어떤 말들이 2개 이상의 주제를 말할 수가 있으나 수능영어는 그렇게 하면 너무나 어렵기 때문에 1지문 1주제를 채택한 것입니다. 이건 수능볼때 반드시 참고하시기 바랍니다이 지문은 고통에 대한 지문입니다. 그걸 베이스로 깔고요Which of these experiences would you expect to recall as most painful? 이게 중요한 문장입니다. 왜냐하면 제가 이전에 언급드렸던 글의 전개방식에서 4번 전개방식인 질문+답변(질문에 대한 답변이 주제문)이 사용됐기 때문입니다그렇다면 고통이 제재고 어떤 고통이 이러한 경험 중에서 가장 기억에 남을 정도라고 생각하는가라고 하였습니다. 그럼 그 뒤 답변을 읽어봐야겠죠?Curiously, when asked which trial they would prefer to repeat, most preferred the longer trial, with more net pain — but less pain at the end. 라고 지문에 답변이 있네요. 여기서 반복되고 지속시간이 긴 고통이 엄청난 고통이라네요그렇다면 4번 아니면 5번인데... 과연 답이 무엇일까요? 해답은 would prefer to repeat을 보면 알 수 있습니다. repeat는 반복하는 것이니까 frequency라고 생각하실 수 있어서 답은 5번인 것 같은데, 아닙니다. 예를 들어보겠습니다frequency는 자주라는 뜻이지 자신이 어떤 의지를 갖고 무엇을 꾸준히 하는 것이 아닙니다그러나 repeat는 어떤 자신만의 의지를 갖고 끈기있게 꾸준히 하는것입니다. 의지의 유무차이죠그래도 정 모르겠다 하시면 벤다이어그램을 그려서 상황에 대입해보시면 됩니다어쨌든 답은 그래서 4번입니다. 앞으로 고득점을 노리실거면 단어, 숙어(이어동사), 글의 전개방식, 중요하다고 생각됩니다
